Things You Should Never Ask in a Job Interview

  • Information you could have easily found with a quick Google search
  • Anything related to salary/benefits or Inquiring about sick time and vacation days (save this for after an offer has been made!)
  • How soon do you promote employees? Try instead: How does the company support and promote personal and professional growth?
  • How often do reviews occur?
  • About gossip you may have heard. Try instead: While researching your company/organization, I read that you are in the process of expanding / developing / creating ... Could you please tell me more about this?
  • What other jobs do you have available?
  • Do you think I'll be a good fit? Try instead: What would you consider to be the top two personality traits someone needs to do this job well?
  • Will you monitor my email or social networking platforms?
  • Do you do background checks?
