On Wednesday, March 13 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Parr Atrium (Thames Hall), Western University will host the hirewesternuAbility Accessible Employment Forum. This is an in-person event with a hybrid option.

This event is free for all students. All attendees will receive a free gift and be entered for the chance to win an Apple iPad or 1 of 4 $100 gift cards!

Program

The Accessible Employment Forum will be divided into 3 parts.

1.0 Opening remarks and Keynote Speaker (Hybrid)

Opening remarks: 5:30 - 5:40 p.m.

Keynote Speaker: Chief Accessibility Officer of Canada, Stephanie Cadieux: 5:40 - 6:15 p.m.

Following the keynote address, a Q&A will be facilitated by Dr. Opiyo Oloya, Associate Vice-President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

2.0 Employer and Community Organization Panel on Accessible Employment (6:20 – 7:00 p.m., Hybrid)

Our Employer Panel will be available to answer questions about accessible employment and best practices for accessible recruitment, onboarding and retention.

This Panel will be a great opportunity to learn more about new initiatives and approaches to accessibility, in addition to how organizations are work together to support people with disabilities.

3.0 Networking Hour (7:00 - 8:00 p.m., In-person)

We will begin the Networking Hour with introductions to employers and community organizations. Light refreshments will be available.

Our final portion of the evening will serve as an opportunity for networking between students, employers and community organizations!

This is a fantastic opportunity to discuss your career goals, hiring/employment needs, and get to know each other!
